Lifelong Ingham County resident Billie Jo O’Berry is on a mission to fight and protect Victim’s Rights, Transparency and Justice. Billie Jo O’Berry has been married for over 40 years to Rick O’Berry, a local real estate agent. She has one daughter Jolina O’Berry who is an attorney and a granddaughter Grace Joelle O’Berry who enjoys playing basketball. Billie attends St. James Church in Mason, Michigan.
Billie began her career in 1975 working in the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for Ray Scodeller. Scodeller hired Billie to assist in establishing the first Ingham County pre-trial diversion program, which is still in effect today. Billie has been in charge of the city of Lansing’s diversion program since 1987.
As an auxiliary member of VFW #7309, O’Berry strongly supports the use of veteran courts and courts that specialize in mental health, domestic violence and substance abuse issues.
Billie is the only candidate currently prosecuting cases. With over thirty years of experience her philosophy as a prosecutor is to prioritize cases and focus on repeat offenders.
Billie Jo O’Berry has prosecuted and supervised the prosecution of thousands of cases over her career. Billie also organized the first professional/technical union for workers of the city of Lansing.
Billie’s mother who worked in a factory for 42-years still lives in the house her father built after saving money he earned as a coal miner in Kentucky and migrant farm worker in Michigan. Mrs. O’Berry inherited a strong work ethic from her parents. As a Lansing Asst. City Attorney she has prosecuted and supervised staff attorneys in thousands of cases. She has the administrative experience required to lead the Prosecutor’s Office.
Billie Jo O’Berry has demonstrated integrity and transparency over her nearly three decades as a prosecuting official and will continue to do so as the Ingham County Prosecutor. With your vote in November, together we can return justice to Ingham County.
